This mural is from a restaurant from Las Fuentes, which is a local Mexican restaurant. I took this picture on September 12, 2018 2:32 p.m., located on 18415 Vanowen St, Reseda, CA 91335. The mural has no name but it symbolically represents the culture of my community. The population of Reseda is made up of mostly Latinos, Chicanos, and other groups. Reseda is a city known for being diverse, there are different people that reside here that originate from other places. This mural shows people in a nostalgic era selling balloons on a beautiful day in Mexico, along side 21st century buildings. The mural is representing the similarities of the city of Reseda to Mexico City. The mural conveys a message that the community of Reseda is one that is full of diversity and welcoming to any other cultures. The mural also identifies with the history of Reseda and how Mexico used to own California. California use to be part of Mexico until a war caused Mexico to give up this land to the United States. This mural helps remind the Chicanos and Latinos of Mexico City and how it has influenced Reseda. This mural represents modern day America because it shows that the American population is made up of people from places all over the world. America is the land of the free, so people from all over the world should have the opportunity to live here. Minorities should not face discrimination because they should be treated the same as the rest of the people.
