As the students achieve their accomplishment of graduation, they must honor the Matador by leaving a rose to thank him for being strong like a matador. The statue stands strongly and proudly for all the students as a constant reminder that they are part of the CSUN family. The University is a huge part of the community because it is the main university in the San Fernando Valley. The university is identified as unstoppable because it has been through its bad times and its good times, like the earthquake of 1994. The University does not give up because like the matador, he looks down upon the bull to show to show that he has power and courage to face the bull. The matador shows the viewers that the students at CSUN have the mentality to succeed.
